Newsboys: Christian Rock Band

The Newsboys are a Christian rock band that has been around since the mid-1980s. Over the years, they have become one of the most well-known and influential bands in the Christian music industry. With their upbeat, catchy tunes and powerful lyrics, the Newsboys have touched the lives of countless people all over the world. #newsboys

The band was originally formed in Mooloolaba, Australia, in 1985 by two young men, Peter Furler and George Perdikis. They started out as a local band, playing at youth groups and other small events. It wasn’t long before they gained a following and were signed to a record label.

In 1988, the Newsboys released their first album, “Read All About It.” The album was a hit and helped to establish the band as a force to be reckoned with in the Christian music scene. Over the next few years, the Newsboys continued to release albums and tour extensively, both in Australia and internationally.

In 1995, the band underwent a major change when Peter Furler took over as lead vocalist from John James. This change proved to be a turning point for the band, as they began to focus more on their live performances and developed a reputation for their energetic and engaging shows.

The Newsboys continued to release hit albums throughout the 1990s and 2000s, including “Take Me to Your Leader,” “Step Up to the Microphone,” and “Devotion.” They also became known for their collaborations with other Christian artists, such as dc Talk and Michael Tait.

In recent years, the Newsboys have continued to evolve and adapt to the changing music industry. They have experimented with new sounds and styles, while remaining true to their Christian roots. They have also continued to tour extensively, playing to packed crowds all over the world.

Despite their success, the Newsboys have always remained humble and focused on their faith. Their music is filled with messages of hope, love, and redemption, and they have inspired countless people to turn to God and live a life of faith.

One thing that many people may not know about the Newsboys is that they actually started out as a band called “The News” in Australia in the mid-1980s. The original lineup consisted of Peter Furler, George Perdikis, Sean Taylor, and John James. It wasn’t until 1987 that they changed their name to the Newsboys, after signing with a new record label and releasing their debut album, “Read All About It.”

Another interesting fact is that the band has gone through several lineup changes over the years. In addition to John James being replaced by Peter Furler as lead vocalist in 1995, the band has also seen the departure and return of other members, including Phil Joel, who left the band in 2006 but returned in 2009.

Finally, many people may not know that the Newsboys have also been involved in other forms of media besides music. In 2014, they released the film “God’s Not Dead,” which was a surprise hit and went on to spawn a successful franchise. The band also wrote the theme song for the movie, which became a hit in its own right. Additionally, the Newsboys have appeared in several other films and TV shows over the years, including an episode of “The X-Files” and the movie “Down and Derby.”

In conclusion, the Newsboys are a true icon of the Christian music industry. Their infectious tunes and inspiring lyrics have touched the lives of millions of people around the world. As they continue to evolve and grow, we can only imagine what the future holds for this incredible band.

      1. You are welcome.
They are awesome. We have sent them a few times in concert. We love how the drummer still drums while spinning and flipped upright. So cool.
